I think Digg dugg their own grave when they let the top users go to Netscape and moved to Digg 4.0. I don't know why Digg didn't hire the top users or offered them a job of keeping quality. Digg might be democratic, but now it is basically the backwash of the internet ever since the top users went. I was one of the few first 1000 or so members on it and I yearn for the day Digg realizes it's mistake and takes away the stupid sections other than Science, Tech, Games, Netcasts and Sports..and maybe make the 08 election stay around.
I was going to say that Digg wouldn't be at the top of the hill for very much longer, but they recently did a 3 year advertising deal with Microsoft, leading me to believe that they will possibly be around for another 3 years. Revision 3 is what is going to make Kevin rose all sorts of cash, not Digg. <- Unrelated point.
Yeah, but Revision3 is basically going to be as bad as G4tv and Digg soon judging by their line-up of shows. Didn't they say that Revision3 was going to be like Techtv? Well I don't remember stupid shows on Techtv..
The Microsoft deal will ruin Digg. This deal will probably open up a big hole for Microsoft to digg (Pun intended) into Digg and promote Pro-Microsoft stories and ban users making fun of Microsoft and promoting Linux and Apple. From what I read, Microsoft will have a huge chunk of what goes into Digg's advertisements. Microsoft could just you know..say that the iPhone update story is an Advertisment from Apple and it is against the terms Digg and them have, and take it off of the front page. Plus the CEO of digg even claimed Microsoft was edgy, new, and innovative which sounds like a ad doesn't it? Well yeah, Microsoft is going to control digg sooner or later in one form or in another.
I just hope digg sees what Microsoft will do and call it off..
